Re: How I found a hydrotherapist.
Alexis, do you know what type
colonic system the therapist you went to used? Was it a pressure type or gravity flow?
I definitely recommend the pressure type systems. You can often tell the difference by the size of the rectal instrument used. Pressure type machines typically use a disposable wide diameter speculum (0.6" - 0.75") that the client eliminates through, into a lighted viewing tube built into the unit that is directly connected to the waste drain of the plumbing system. This way, there is no odor, nor other contact with the elimated waste matter.
Gravity flow units are just fancy adaptations of Colema type units, and have been popularized recently in the Libbe systems. These typically use a pencil-thin disposable rectal attachment that the client eliminates around. Elimination occurs on the table into a "splash bowl" which typically empties into the toilet. This can be messy and the strong odors that typically accompany an enema are obvioulsy noticeable.
In fact, the results achieved by a typical gravity flow type system can be reproduced at home by a series of cleansing enemas, one after another. The gravity flow system just makes it more convienent in that you don't have to keep getting up to go, and then refill the bag for the followup enemas.
