Re: Help 14YO deciding circumcision

I realize that this post is old, but it still derves an answer for the many other boys in the same predicament:
"I am... almost 15, and... I might be getting more sexually active. Thus making me wonder if the opposite sex will be ok with my foreskin. This is a very hard subject to talk about with, and I really wish to get a circumsision, but I dont know how to confront one of my parents.
I was asked a while ago If I wanted, and I said no, and I regret it now. I need some opinions and info about this. I have almost gone to drastic measures (i.e. self-circumsision) and I dont wish to think about doing that again. I need help from anyone."
This boy was lucky, because his parents had already offered him the option previously. He should have every reason to expect their cooperation now that he has changed his mind.
Many more have parents that do NOT talk to them about it, and they have good reason to fear being denied what they feel they need and want. Parents of uncut boys are just as likely to want to force them to keep their foreskins now as they were when those boys were born.
Why is it so hard for parents to tell boys that are starting school with all the other little boys that if the time ever comes when they need help, or to see the doctor about any "problems down there", do not hesitate to speak up?
