Dancing with God.
(this is a 'cut and paste' of what I just posted in the Christian debate forum).

Is this silence an indication of modern Christianity?
Am I paranoid or is there too much silence on this forum lately? Could it be that modern Christianity has 'dried up' because it is portrayed/understood as lifeless or is it that my younger brethren of the present generation, being raised in a world where technology and commerce rule to the point where it seems that they (technology and commerce) are the meaning of life, just haven't been able to fully comprehend the SPIRIT of God and realize the authority of the spirit over that of the TEXT (textbook, bible).

(All verses are from the Revised Standard Version).
The common view of Godliness and Christianity is based on the bureaucratic partisanship of empirical research (kind of 'misses the mark'). Our efforts to define God and set limits to His gracious loving kindness and consolidate the depths of His grace into a book are shortsighted and consistent with HUMAN nature. The god of confusion, satan, disguises every truth set before us, especially of spiritual wisdom, so that we won't fully understand the graciousness of our Lord.
The founding principle (premise) of our belief is the definition of what God is (God is love) and the foundation of our understanding of the bible, that Adam and Eve ate of the tree of good and evil, have presented satan with the greatest opportunity for misinformation. New Testament Christianity is based on the spiritual, not the textual renderings of God. Likewise, our understanding of scripture should not be based on worldly, empirical thought. Our understanding of love is the single most important misunderstanding of Christianity simply because that is what God is. Just as there are no TYPES of God (that deserve worship and love) and there are no types of hatred, confusion can only result from pretending that TYPES of love is a belief that actually makes sense (the god of confusion has been successful with this misbelief for ages all around the world). Adam and Eve did not eat of the tree of good and evil, but the tree of the KNOWLEDGE of good and evil (the tree of conscience, Hebrews 5:14 tells us of it's significance), which is why we are supposed to be able to stand before the Lord with a clear conscience, and why rejecting conscience makes shipwreck of our personal relationship with the Lord, but also why we are held accountable for our deeds. Our own personal conviction of what is right or wrong (conscience) is what defines us as being who we are. As God's offspring (I am who I am, Exodus 3:14), we are to relate to Him according to our identity ("so that God may be everything to everyone", 1 Corinthians 15:28).
Neither bible scholars nor the bible itself died on the cross or created this world ("the world was created by the word of God", Hebrews 11:3), yet we find ourselves being created in the image and likeness of OUR perception of what God is, and in the views of many unbelievers, the goal of Christianity is that we be as lifeless and indifferent as a book and deny our own humanity/identity, in other words, Christianity is viewed as being somewhat dehumanizing (because that is the way it is presented/portrayed). That is the reason why many (if not most) unbelievers resist evangelism (because they think that becoming a 'Godlover' means forsaking all of humanity, not only that of other people, but their own humanity as well...spiritual suicide). Serving the Lord is not commonly seen as a labor of love, but a duty. My brethren are taught in a politically correct manner as though the political view of humanity is proper and that 'social correctness' has no value. How are the brethren to be able to comprehend the depth of a PERSONAL relationship with the Lord and that the sincerity of the relationship is determined by having regard/respect for the creation made in God's image.
Of course, I may be cynical and opinionated (but that couldn't be true), but the spiritual visionairies of today (unlike Spurgeon, Tozer, etc.) are more like motivational speakers turned snake oil salesman. As far as having the 'heart of God', Christianity today seems neither hot nor cold, but lukewarm (Revelation 3:15), or is 'the heart of God' not the ultimate objective (God was well pleased with David "the dancer" because he was a man after God's own heart). It's time for Christianity to develop 'eyes to see and ears to hear' and discover the "depths of God" (1 Corinthians 2:10) in order to mature (Hebrews 6:1).
