Four months of discipline have paid off! My dentist told me I'm in the clear-- the pockets in my gums have shrunk! I'm beating the Periodontal disease!
I'm 33 years old and have had receding gums for many years, in spite daily brushing and flossing from the age of 21. A year ago my dentist recommended a deep cleaning (planing) which we did, and 3 months later he said I then needed to see a periodontist for more work.
Well, that guy took measurments and said I had advanced periodontal disease-- we're talking way beyond gingivitis-- and I'd swear he said some of my pocket measurements were 7 mm! He warned me that my teeth (which were pretty wiggly already) could eventually loosen up and fall out as the bacteria under my gum continued polluting the areas surrounding the bone. He recommended a $3000 (after insurance!) surgical deep cleaning.
I found a link that same day here on Curezone, to a site by a dentist in Florida:
http://www.saveyourteeth.com.
If you have gingivitis, periodontal disease, or just teeth that you'd like to keep healthy, I HIGHLY recommend you follow his protocal of brushing with a
Sea Salt /baking soda/collodial silver paste. I've been doing it for four months, 1-2 times a day, flossing with 2-4 lb. fishing line (though lately I switched back to regular floss) as well as using a butler gum stimuator (you'll find all the info at the site) to massage my gums daily. I've also been taking Solgar vitamin D, vitamin E, vitamin C powder, and occasionally rubbing vitamin E gel (from a gelcap) directly on my gums.
Within a few weeks my gums appeared pinkish white as Dr. Behm mentions at his website. The bleeding, though it still happens occasionaly, is very rare.
The best news is I went to see my dentist for a cleaning today, (not my normal dentist but same clinic) and mentioned my periodontal disease diagnosis and how I'd done some managed care of my own. He took measurements with his probe and said, and I quote here: "well, whatever you've been doing is working!"
He told me that the four front lower teeth are measuring 4mm pockets, but the others are all 3mm!
Please follow this regime very precisely, and don't forget to use a gum stimulator. In the beginning I did some oil swishing for about a month but feel out of that routine. I'm sure it helps, though.
So, it can be done! I almost don't believe it myself! My teeth still look very long due to the recession, but the pockets are closing up, which is the most important thing.
Good luck to you all!
