Re: Enzymes - the amazing facts.

I have followed this debate with some interest. In the beginning, I gave you the benefit of a doubt, but your failure to respond to my post was curious to say the least. You persisted in arguing points which I had previously addressed till I was forced to advertise my post before you responded.

EZ: I was looking for answer to hoe the body detected the food enzymes and communicated with the organs involved in digestive enzyme production. Your response that youy thought you read somewhere that tonsils did this was interesting but not very compelling iwthout some other supporting evidence. I thought you were going to try and find that reference.

Neo
When you did finally respond you were rather selective in the subject matter which you addressed and what little you did, you took out of context and twisted to alter it's meaning to support your own contentions.

Reviewing the material of your previous posts, this seems to be a consistent pattern in your arguments. Statements which I construe a certain way in light of the general context, you take out of context to mean the opposite or something entirely different at the least.

EZ: I feel my posts have been straight and to the point. How does the body detect these enzymes in food and modulates its own production of these enzymes. I have asked this repeatedly and all I get is people trying to attack me or trying to change the subject...it is very frustrating!!

NEO:
This forces me to question your sincerity. You seem to be creating arguments where none exist. I wonder if this is perhaps just some sort of sport for you.

EZ: I am very seriously trying to discuss this topic but no one will answer the questions on the topic...do you know why no on is addressing the issue of how the body detects these food enzyme or what someone measured in the past to come to the conclusion that food enzymes are involved in digestion? I sure don't?

On the subject of enzyme references, a number of people here are familiar with the work of Edward Howell, a foremost authority on enzymes. Although it has been a while, I have read his book several times and while rare antagonists in some forums have cast a shadow of doubt over certain aspects of his work, as a whole I would say that the logic of his arguments was quite compelling and till I have had the time to review any counter-arguments I am prepared to give Mr. Howell the benefit of a doubt.

EZ: Did you read the link I provided cooncerning criticisms of Howells theory? Soem compelling questions some of which I have asked here...for instance how does the body detect the food enzymes? Do you agree that the body must be able tot detect these enzymes if it is going to modulate the production of its own enzymes based on the presence of food enzymes?

NEO
Whether it is in fact enzymes or some other factor, I state again it is clear from pottengers and other experiments; and the undisputed fact that at the very least some vitamins are destroyed by heat processing; that a diet which has not been heat processed is logically superior. Both Howell and Norman Walker ate raw food and used supplimentary enzymes on a consistent basis. Both lived to an advanced age in good health.

EX: I don't think anyone disputed the fact that cooking destroys some vitamins. Two people are hardly a rule ....my family members consistently live to old age despite smoking, drinking and eating a terrible diet....so no clear trends can be deduced by looking at two people. What we can do is discuss the issue that was presented and that seems to be very difficult on this forum.

Neo
I have satisfied my own mind on this subject by doing my own investigative research. Instead of engaging in argumentative games, why don't you follow some of the references which have been provided in this forum and numerous others which you will doubtless find on the internet and do your own. Get howell's book and read it. While I am content to provide you with reference materials, I have no intent in doing the research for you.

EZ: I am glad your satasfied. I am not! How do you think the body detects these food enzymes and modulates the production of its own enzymes? How does the body not activate the proteases and other degradation enzymes wich would destroy our own endogenous enzymes? Both types are found in food items.

NEO
Prove that food enzymes do NOT contribute to superior digestion, enhanced health and longevity. Both the above Health Pioneers were living examples and suggest that they do. Both constitute empirical proof of Edward Howell's research which concluded that food enzymes do make a contribution to digestion and metabolism.

EZ: How do two people living to old age constitute proof? My grandfather(s) both lived to 99 and 101 respectively in good health despite drinking and smoking up until the day they died. Should I hold them up as touting the virtues of this lifestyle?

Neo
There is more to life horatio than what is printed in your institutional text book! It would not surprise me in the least that this information is suppressed because of commercial interests of the food processing industry. It is also an all too common historical theme. If the almighty dollar was not the bottom line, you might be reading Howell's text and in a better world, Gerson's book would be required reading in Medical College.

EZ: I was wondering when the "suppressed because of commercial interest" card would be played....What comemrcial interest would be involved in food enzymes participating in digestions? Why would this phsyiological process be suppresed and purged from the physiology textbooks for over 50 years?
