I feel sorry that happens. I dont think the orthodontist is legally required to finish for you especially if u have left the office for 1 yr. But I still think that u should visit the office, and explain your situation to your orthodontist. Most likely they will remove the wire for u for free or a minimal fee. Even though it is better to continue the braces, but if it is not an option for me, having it removed is far better than leave it on forever. At the meantime, practise excellent oral hygiene, use floride containing mouthwash, watch your diet, esp any sticky food.
