I think it can really help to balance out the pH. I personally use a combination of things such as alkaline water, greens, aloe juice, lot of raw foods, deep breathing, and trace minerals.
However, it is always good to have a base powder around on my very acidic days.
If you are really having trouble balancing your pH, however it might mean that you need something more than just base powder. Your kidneys, or parathyroid gland could be off (common today) or you could be suffering from chronic infection (especially dental) or you could be Vit. D deficient.
There are many factors to look at, but it is always good to have a good base powder.
That said, a base powder is ultimately just a slice of the overall cure. It isn't a miracle, but it can be invaluable when you are already healthy and just trying to prevent yeast overgrowth via acidosis.
