composites not holding up, need advice
Hello all,
I have several composite fillings which keep getting leaky, I get them refilled, over and over. All of these troublesome fillings are in wisdom teeth and molars. I just had one wisdom tooth pulled - got tired of the whole thing. When the dentist examined me before pulling that tooth, he mentioned that the molar just next to it is leaking.
I really don't want to get that one pulled (I don't mind having wisdom teeth out, but would like to keep my molars). But, I definitely won't get another composite filling, as these current leaking fillings are only 4 months old.
I know that I clench my teeth at night. I used to wear a mouthguard, but it made my whole head hurt after a while - it felt like it was pushing my jaw out of place as I bit down on it.
I also do not want to get an
Amalgam filling, as the whole mercury thing is just a little too strange... I just can't get comfortable with having mercury in my mouth.
What should I do? I have eliminated nearly all processed
Sugar from my diet, and even stopped eating honey, "cane juice" and stuff like that. I eat fruits. The only "sugar" I get is small amounts in processed food, like chips or bread... I don't eat *any* sweets.
I am open to trying alternative methods, but I am quite worried about the rapidity with which this wisdom tooth decayed (in 4 months it went from new filling to very painful), and don't want to let this molar get out of hand.
I need to figure something out quickly!
And finally, I don't have dental insurance :)
Thanks for your help,
Erik
