Does low acid allow infection, illness?

I recently heard that people who got the C-Dificule illness in an outbreak of it at a Montreal hospital had created low stomach acid conditions, either with tums etc., or when they took anti-biotics[thats neew to me too, anti-biotic creating low acid].

The low acid conditions allowed the bug to establish.
In fact, they are thinking that low acid conditions are the best, easiest way to get these infections. Many illnesses start this way is what they are thinking.

We have known that taking Tums will not help an ulcer beyond the moment, and only the first few times. Low acid gut just allows the ulcer to grow, in that the H Pylori bacteria thrives in low acid guts.
