Re: Malic Acid "fast": is the fasting necessary?
Hey, good to hear from you! :) And your parents are cleansing too, that's so great! My mom's SO stubborn and follows her own way in healing totally. Nothing I can say. Sigh!
Okay, let's see... Gold Coin grass acts on both g/bladder and liver, chinese bitters mostly on liver, and malic acid mostly on the stones in the gallbladder. You don't have to fast while you take the malic acid, as long as you take it in appreciative amounts (1000 mg or 2000 daily) it will soften stones. Gold Coin grass is so effective you don't really have to take any other softening agent, but if you haven't flushed in awhile it's a good idea.
Julia does NOT recommend the use of
Epsom Salts , and I have only used them for one or two flushes. I do absolutely fine with out them and since I have to be very careful with salt and protect my kidneys, best to avoid ES. It's very harsh on the kidneys and makes flushing quite uncomfortable. For the most comfortable flush - so that you'll be able to do enough to do you some real good - consider just having the ES there in case of emergency or to void your bowels the day after the flush.
You have to do SOMEthing to clean the colon post-flush, morning after, or the toxins re-enter the bloodstream and you don't want that! I do enemas for several days, Julia recommends salt water flushes. P&B shakes for a few days afterwards are also good.
For people without gallbladders, I recommend a "mini flush." This protocal involves taking plenty of liver-supporting herbs like the CB, a bit of GCG, and Coptis to increase bile flow. Carrot juice or the cleansing carrot salad (see notes) are also good to do, as is lecithin and B vitamins, and exercise/heat to increase circulation.
For the flush, after taking herbs for a couple weeks, you can do just 1/2 cup of oil with 1/2 cup of juice on an empty stomach. You don't need the same oil/juice ratio as gallbladder people, as the extra juice is for contracting the g/bladder. You can do this weekly.
Hope that helps! :)
