I'd insist for now that nothing more adventurous be done with your tooth than correcting (removing and redoing) the crown. Sounds to me - as a layperson - like one of maybe two things.

Because of all the work the doc had to do on it I wonder if it wasn't set just right in there (that's happened to me but got corrected before cementing, and that's most likely I'd suspect)... or you've got some reaction to the cement stuff.
