gas in intestines

Hi Shelley I have what is probably a stupid question, but often times at work (in the afternoon) I get this pain right under my breasts, you would assume it was my ribs but upon poking and prodding my ribs do not hurt. I feel like it might be trapped gas or gas moving in my intestines. Is this possible do my intestines go that far up? Also it lasts for hours.
