Juicing Seeds - might be a GOOD thing!

I was asked whether apples should be cored before juicing. I always core them before juicing but not everyone does, so I recommended coring them because seeds and nuts usually have some kind of protective agent (phytotoxin or plant based poison) to keep it from being eaten before its time. Mother nature's way of protecting the seed so it can do what it shoudl - become a plant! :)

But many toxins in small doses are healing, that is the principle of homeopathic medicine. I just don't like that kind of healing as it is actually rather antagonistic and the dose is so important as to deciding whether it's helpful or healing.

But I just noticed on Dr. Sculze' page on juicing that he recommends occasionally juicing the seeds of apples and pears, as they contain Vit B12 and Laetrile, which I thought was only in apricots. Laetrile, you may remember, is at the heart of the alternative cancer cure controversy. People who still eat seeds and Millet, a grain we've given up in favor of wheat that has Laetrile, have much fewer cases of cancer than people on the Standard American Diet.

So it looks like I have to rethink the no-seeds rule!
