I posted that I've had peeling lips for about 6 months. I was using an antifungal/antiinflammatory cream for about 3 months and went to a dermatologist. He said I needed to taper off the cream and put me on a weaker steroid ointment for a week. I was supposed to switch to a lip ointment called Theraplex, but I haven't found it.
During the week I tapered, I began using a sublingual form of B12 called methylcobalamin. I bought one by DaVinci Labs. I have been having some nerve problems (as I have mild neuropathies from cancer treatement, etc) and decided I could use the B12 (used it in the past). Well, my lips started getting better with one a day. Two a day staved off peeling that would begin in the afternoon. Three a day seems to be preventing new peeling and probably is allowing my lips to finally heal!
My dermatologist did not acknowledge that exfoliative cheilitis is an issue, but said I might have contact dermatitis or some other kind from trauma.
