Sounds like your parents have a pretty good source of meat (if it hasn't received hormones or Antibiotics - might want to double-check that). If you are going to eat meat, that is probably the best you can get. It's definitely better to eat that meat (steak, hamburger, roast) instead of pop-tarts and cookies.
Have you ever heard of, or tried, medjool dates? They are like a moist, delicious brown Sugar candy. However, they are just fruit. You can carry them around with you, so they might be convenient if you are craving a sweet snack. Apples are also good. I've found that it's good for me to keep an apple handy, to eat instead of junk food.
