I like to eat frozen grapes. I just wash a bunch and stick them in the freezer. They're good for about a week, then they start to break down. Freezing slows down the ripening/rotting process some but it doesn't stop it. That's why you have to blanch if you want your frozen fruits or veggies to last longer than a month in the freezer.
The other thing is that foods with a high Sugar content ripen/rot faster. If you freeze bananas they'll last for a week or two but you'll see they're really rotten after a few months. So yeah, they blanch fruits too :(
