Re: tea vs coffee
Black tea has roughly 1/3 the caffiene of coffee. Green tea has roughly 1/3 the caffiene of black tea. White tea has practically zero caffiene. White tea has the most antioxidants but the least flavor. Green tea has more antioxidants than black tea. Coffee does have some sort of antioxidants but it is a different type than in teas. Black tea does still have antioxidants and I would recommend it over coffee. Coffee is very acidic to the body. Sadly, because of the SAD way people eat, coffee is the #1 source of antioxidants in the american diet. The thing to be careful about is: multiple cups of black tea still add up, caffeine-wise. And, the fluoride in tea is something of a concern so you should be aware of that. I have heard different opinions about the nature of the fluoride in caffiene, but it is there, naturally. I know the mercola.com offers a black tea and a green tea concentrate that has no caffeine or fluoride, I am thinking about trying it sometime. That being said, I drink green tea most days of the week, about two cups, and white tea some days.
That is if you are going to drink caffeine. If you want to avoid it, let's say give your body a rest one or two days a week, you could drink herbal teas. I would recommend rooibos, it has TONS of antioxidants, that antioxidant is different from coffee or tea, called superoxidedismutase which is a very important one. I am mixing green tea and rooibos 50/50 these days for a big antioxidant cocktail! YUM
