it isnt an urban legend.- sorry to say
Our local health food store owners are following this issue very closely. As of right now, there have been over 52,000 letters of protest. It appears things are looking good, but we're not out of the woods yet. More meetings are taking place over this with FDA, etc, and lobbyists for the vitamin companies.
"Citizens for Health mobilizes over 52,000 Consumers to Preserve Their Health Rights “It is an absolutely amazing grassroots response from consumers that will demonstrate to policymakers how committed people in this country are to their rights to purchase safe dietary supplements,” said Citizens for Health President Ana Micka. “For many people, these supplements are a safe and cost-effective way to promote good health.”
check it out- its not an internet fable or urban legend.
It keeps popping up every decade or so, because the Pharmecuetical companies bring it up every so many years and try to get it passed So far it has been rejected . The last time it was proposed, it was very close in getting pushed through- but public outcry was so great, that they didnt pursue it. This time, they seem to be keeping the public media from bringing this out into the main public- so that they can sneak the bill through quietly.
A local radio station did air the situation for a brief 5 minutes, but that was the only thing I heard about it in the mainstream media.
it all depends on public outcry- as well as who "on top" is sleeping with" which type of lobbyist-- the pharmecuetical lobbyists, or the supplement lobbyists..
