Broken tooth, please help!

Hello everyone...A couple of weeks ago, I broke the corner of a tooth, bottom left, it has Amalgam in it. A piece of the stuff broke off in my mouth. I was driving, so I filled my mouth with water and spit it out the window. It was a very small piece, not much larger than a grain of sand. My question is this...I have an apptointment with Dr. Morales on April 7 to remove all metal. Do I need to make an emergency appt? It is a 4 hour drive to Mexico for me. Money is tight too. I would like to wait, but my symptoms seem to be increasing. Any suggestions, would be much appreciated.
