The streets of Nuevo Progreso, Mexico (east of Brownsville) are paved but dirty, one mangy, really mangy dog wanders the street;here we would be so kind as to put him down. There are no traffic lights, but someone waves his hands in the air, and the cars go and stop. The street smells of food. Every other store is a small dental office, maybe there are 100 of them.Some in garish colors of blue and orange. And lots of pharmacias, where you even have the right to buy medicine without the permission of a Dr.Do wrong. " I've seen your towns, they're all the same,the only differnce is in the name" Buffy St. Marie. That sentiment does not apply here. You are in the Twilight Zone of Dentistry.

Plastic fillings are $30, Extractions $10, Gold Crowns $120

Protocol is not spoken here, nor hardly is English. Dont ask for
protocol gringo. Mercury is perfectly safe here and no one hasever
even heard of the concept of mercury poisoning. They are 20 or 30
years behind the times of course. Dentistry is not brain surgery.
These people are competent and fast. They want to work on you and
getsome pesos. Watch the exchange rate or you will get nicked a
littlebit, but so what they are literally saving your life. There is coldwater coming out of the dental equipment and I did not get sick fromit. Rubber dams sound like they would get in the way, anyway. Beside you can spit it out,the mercury, anyway.Remember elemental mercury is 100 times less toxic than organic mercury as in fish. Air suctionwould be nice but I didnt have it and it would be hard to find here. I had 18 fillings removed in two sessions. I felt about as toxic as when I ate a 1/2 can of Tuna fish. It lasted a few days. I am still here.

Take some activated charcoal before the procedure,drink some
alcohol(reduces absorbtion of HG),dont take Vitamin C (blocks
Novacaine)

They can do you in one day if you do plastic, but finding the right plastic will be a problem. The brand Conquest is supposed to be Aluminum free.DONT USE ALUMINUM PLASTIC! You will need to know which plastic you want to use , who has it, or who can get it. You migh consider bringing it yourself if possible. Or use gold,(has electricalproperties but I dont think those are that bad for you). If you ask them they can get your gold inlays,onlays back from the lab in 5 days.The mercury free dentist Texas was talking about 3 weeks to get them back. Must be sending them to Thailand, huh?
