I have more experience with black salve than most people and have used it for a variety of reasons. What you are describing is part of the normal process--pain, swelling, inflammation around the site and a white ring that occurs just before the scab detaches. I have the original cancer salve formula and instructions which include the use of a light salve that is applied after the first 24 hours and is kept on daily until day 7 when more black salve is applied, and then the light salve is resumed until the lesion completely heals. Its a powerful antiseptic which both draws and prevents any infection. The inflammatory process is not infection but part of the body's response to the cleansing and expelling of abnormal tissue.
