Urgent-Causasian-Asian Bone Marrow donor needed for Megan Connor-Australian girl with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia.

Please read, and forward this to whoever may be able to help! Thank you.

Please note this is an urgent appeal, not a hoax.

Correspondence started 8th Feb by Peter Connor, father of Megan Connor.

Megan was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia, the only proven cure for which is to find a matching Bone Marrow donor and to undergo a successful transplant.

Peter Connor, her father is Australia, her Mother is Chinese so therefore a donor marrow is proving difficult.

Peter can be contacted by email: peter.connor@sun.com

I post below the whole thread before for your reference on the detail:

Dear All,

I am forwarding you this appeal in the hope that you can pass on this info to yourfriends /schools /university /business/club /group /church etc.

Megan is a lovely girl who is at present the Vice Captain of Abbotsleigh Junior School where I was head for 18years. She is also a fantastic swimmer and an Olympic hopeful for the future. Her father is Australia, her Mother is Chinese so therefore a donor marrow is proving difficult.

Please pass this on to anyone who you think might be a match and would be willing to help.
Megan's father has asked me to help as I have been in Asia and also because I have contacts there.

PLEASE HELP ME TO HELP THIS FAMILY!!!
LOVE B

Barbara,
Sally mentioned that you might be able to help us in our efforts to locate a match for our daughter Megan.

Her best chance of finding a match is with someone between 18-40 of mixed Chinese / Caucasian ethnic background.

Below is an email that summarises the situation and provides links/ contacts at least in Aus,Singapore,Hong Kong and the U.S.

Anything you can do to spread the word would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards and many thanks.

Recently I received the shocking news that my daughter has Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia-the only proven cure for which is to find a matching Bone Marrow donor and to undergo a successful transplant.

You can help in the following ways :

1.If you are of mixed Chinese/Caucasian ethnic background AND between 18-40 years of age, please IMMEDIATELY sign up to be a Bone Marrow Donor-to start with all you have to do is give some extra blood.

For details of what's involved and how to enroll see below;

i.for Australian based donors-refer http://www.abmdr.org.au/enroll.htm or call 02- 92294318

ii.for Hong Kong based donors-call 28190766 or see
http://www.hkmmf.org.hk/www/index.php?lang=en

iii.for Singapore based donors- see http://www.bmdp.org/ or contact National University Hospital's Blood Donation Centre(Tel-67725356) or Singapore General Hospital's HaematologyCentre(Tel- 63214722)

iv. for US based donors- see http://www.marrow.org/index.html

2.If you don't fall into this category but know of others who do,please encourage them to join the bone marrow registry.

Thanks for your support.

Peter Connors
