I know that for every story there is another side and I just wanted to mention mine.
I have been following Atkins guidelines for almost 2 years and to be honest I have never eaten healthier in my life. Before Atkins I thought the pyramid with mostly cereals and breads was the most important and my day would be cereal, cheese spreads and crackers, a few sandwiches, hot chocolate, milk and cookies and for dinner pasta and meat and of course softdrink as I believed due to Australian media that Sugar was actually good for active people. Until I started doing Atkins I never really knew what salads or veges were as I was told they were not as important as the almighty carbohydrate. We are so misinformed with what is actually good for you. Since being on Atkins I have rediscovered healthy living, beaten candida and am in progress of a few different cleanses. I have never felt healthier before. I also was always told supplementation was not necessary by doctors my whole life but Atkins recommends them and now am on Usana which in my opinion is one of the leading supplementations. My eyes have improved, my skin looks fantastic and of course I have lost 15kg (which came off in the first 3 months). I tried for 6 months to lose the low fat way and nothing happened at all.
Once finished induction and especially if you are active Atkins says fruits and veges are the most important of our diet and should replace the carbohydrates. If I had of known this information as a youngster I would have had much less health problems. My day now consists of lemon juice and vege juice upon wakening, gluten free and wheat free muesli with oats milk for breakfast, 2 fruits, lunch either a salad or cooked veges with tamari soy sauce for taste, nuts and seeds and meat (ususally fish or chicken and occaisonal steak) for dinner with a selection of veges (I try to have 8 different fruits or veges every day). Now I understand some of the processed foods of any kind are bad for you but saying Atkins is bad without actually trying the programme is not a complete statement. For me it was the best decision I ever made.
I have also found out all my allergies which are many and mostly due to eating so many carbs in my life as wheat, yeast and milk are my worst allergies.
Now I also must thank Shelley for my health - while my dietary habits are of my own accord it is shelleys advice that has got me involved in cleansing and my way to a healthy future.
