Doesn't really have that artichoke flavor you're looking for if you're an artichoke lover. I wonder if marinating it in olive oil will bring out the flavor. It tasted brocolli-ish, which isn't bad, just not artichoke-y. <--Sorry not an expert food critic.
I ate the leaf 'petals' (make sure they have the white attached at the bottom) by dipping them in guacamole. I ate the heart with guac too. I was really full after eating it, but it made my mouth super-dry, like very puckerish, lol.
