Re: Candida and weightlifting
Candida Newbie and JV,
What you are likely dealing with is differenecs in nervous system balance. When the nervous systems of the body (sympathetic vs. parasympathetic) get out of balance on either end, problems can occur. So, the key is to apply the type of stimuli that will be bring you back into balance.
As JV pointed out, intense aerobic exercise creates a large stress response associated with the fight or flight response. However high intensity weight training (meausured by relative exertion as opposed to load) also produces a similar response - they are both sympathetic by nature.
So, seeing that JV got good results from the weight training suggests that the sympathetic stimuli from the weights is not having an overwleming affect on his parasympathetic nervous system. You, Candida Newbie on the other hand may require some significant parasympathetic training (e.g. deep breathing, yoga, chi gong etc...) to help balance your weight training and maintain nervous system balance.
Finally, many things can affect nervous system balance and the way you are feeling (i.e. your symptoms). Therefore, you must also consider whether some of these reactions may be related to nutritional practices, anti-fungal herbs, nutritional deficiencies on a restricted diet, die off, metabolic stress, etc... Your body is naturally going to be sympathetically stimulated if you have a Candida Infection which will in turn affect your recovery. Therefore, consider some parasympathetic training and lowering your volumes until your system recovers from fighting the candida infection.
Main point is, everyone is individual and you must do what works for you.
Hope this is helpful,
