Hello northstar,

Welcome to this forum, I think there are many people just like you and me, just try to read and understand much as we can on this subject, meat, no meat, non 100% raw, or 100% raw, grain, no grain... and then make our own judgement. I am a vegan, and I would like to share my view with other people of why I choose such diet, and here now, I would like to share some information with you about blood type and animal protein.

Allow me to quote this from a very informative and helpful book, Becoming Vegan by Brenda Davis and Vesanto Melina. (Page 49)

"Do some people such as those with certain blood types, need more protein or require animal protein?

The answer is yes and no. Yes, some people do need more protein than others. For every nutrient -- vitamins, minerals, protein -- there is quite a range in individual requirements. For this reason the RDAs are based on average needs, with a substantial safty margin to cover those who require more. Because of normal human variability, some people do well with plenty of the higher-protein plant foods (whether legumes or the more processed alternatives), others function best with a diet centered around grains, and still others thrive with mostly veggie and raw foods. A great variety of eating patterns can be developed using the Vegan Food Guide on pages 154-55 as a basic model to ensure that needs for all nutrients are met. It can be helpful to experiment with different styles of vegan eating and see what makes you feel best.

No, there is no scientific evidence that people with certain food types need animal protein. As noted on page 44, the basic building blocks for our protein-building needs are the same essential amino acids that are present in both animal and plant foods, and those present in animal flesh originated from plants. People of all blood types have done well, and continue to do well, on vegan diets -- a show of hands at any vegetarian gathering proves that quickly enough. Though the blood type theory was catchy enough to sell books, it is not backed up by reliable science."

I hope the above paragraphs can give you more information on this subject to make your own judgement. :)

You said, "I think it all depends on what part of the world you come from. From Eskimos eating all meats to other parts of the world eating all plants to Tropical areas eating all coconuts and fish." I agree with this.
