kefir vs. acidophilus pills Attn: Abraham

I just bought some Kefir made by Lifeway (?) and am wondering about its probiotic benefits in comparison to acidophilus/bifidus caplets. I know that premade Kefir is not nearly as effective as homemade, but I figure I might as well use it. Does anyone know about how many billions of microorganisms are in a half-cup of kefir? The probiotic caplets that I have contain 2.9 billion per pill and are enterically coated and refrigerated. Am I better off using kefir or the caplets, as far as the actual amount of live bacteria in each? I would appreciate any insight. Thanks!
