Re: To Sans Sucre
Well that was an old post of mine... it's been a while since I gave it up.
Herb tea I can only have once or twice a day. Still, I managed to give up coffee.... it was a struggle but I am happy I did.
However, now I am very addicted to cocoa. My dosha is Pitta.... I crave chocolate. I used to eat these cocolate abrs approved by the Canadian Diabete Association (well any dark chocolate with over 72 % chocolate.... yummy..... not at least with cocoa I no longer eat this bit of
Sugar in the chocolate since I drink plain cocoa ( no extra
Sugar ) many times a day... this is also supposed to be a NO NO ! according to some candida diet. Yet it is a powerful antioxydant, it is not bad for cholesterol (some say it is helpful)
Here is a cut and paste from an online site:
"Cocoa and dark Chocolate contain no cholesterol. Milk Chocolate and white chocolate contain only minimal quantities due to the added milk fats.
Cocoa and Chocolate contain stearic acid. This unique saturated fatty acid has a neutral effect on the production of LDL or "bad " cholesterol, even with daily moderate consumption. The same studies show that the stearic acid in Chocolate can promote the production of moderate quantities of "good" cholesterol in some test subjects.
Certain polyphenols in cocoa are thought to have an antioxidant effect, just like the polyphenols in red wine. Studies on this are proceeding apace and show promising results. For example, the flavonoids present in cocoa may counteract the oxidation which turns godd cholesterol (HDL) into bad cholesterol (LDL). Scientists even suggest that cocoa flavonoids might have a stronger anti-oxidant effect tha the flavonoids found in red wine.
Cocoa polyphenols may also protect the body against substances which damage the immune system, causing rheumatism and arthritis.
Scientific studies show that certain polyphenolls in cocoa may render harmless the free radicals which affect DNA in body cells. In addition, they may neutralyze other free radicals which cause cancer.
Dark Chocolate is healthier than milk Chocolate according to researchers from the University of Glasgow for Food and Nutrition Research. They said it has much better antioxidant properties, protecting the heart and arteries from oxidative damage, and claim that adding milk Chocolate may actually cancel out these health benefits. "
Wanna give it a try?????
Cheers,
