Family member of possible candida sufferer with question!
Good afternoon all,
I have a family member who was diagnosed with a severe intestinal yeast infection about 5 years ago [four separate strains of yeast;the Dr. said he had never actually seen a case, but read about it.].I am not sure if candida was the actual name for what she has.
My questions are this: has anyone suffering from this mistakenly been thought of as having an eating disorder? It took my family member 10 years to find out something that was tangibly wrong with her;we all naturally thought she had developed anorexia because her weight loss was so dramatic and we have not seen any improvement in the 5 years she had been diagnosed. She literally looks like a concentration camp survivor and a good 15 years older than she is.
Is this a life-long battle of strict diet? She does go off the diet and sabotage herself on occassion [which makes no sense to me considering the amount of pain she appears to go through] and was on Diflucan for sometime...but I am not clear on how this problem is solved [she won't discuss it,by the way].
How does smoking affect this,if at all? She smokes like a steam engine....and does caffiene play any role? She consumes very large amounts of Mountain Dew [Diet] and it seems that is all she drinks. Is her own lack of taking basic care of herself affecting the condition?
