fungal infection on skin

Hello all!
I don't know if I'm on the right forum, but here goes. My son has a fungal/yeast infection on his scalp and face. I understand it's a pretty common type of thing. It looks like the pigment has been taken out of his skin and it's spotty on his face. On the scalp he gets crusty lesions and flaky dandruff. He got it a few years ago and the dermatologist recommended a cream and Head and Shoulders. It went away, but keeps coming back, so of course we're not getting to the root of the problem. Any suggestions? Also, if I'm not on the right forum, please let me know. Thanks!
