Absolutely - I couldn't agree with you more. One thing I have noticed is that when I got really angry (which has only happened twice in the last couple of years), my stomach got really acidified, and my symptoms went down dramatically. So certainly what goes on higher up is crucial. Having said that there is no easy way to increase stomach acid.
You are also right about needing to know all the pieces and do them in the right order.
