The good and bad IMHO comes from improper use and not enough testing.

Actually I can and do say that. Look at the millions and millions spent on "cures" for cancer when there are people starving in the world and bereft of even the most basic medical care. There is already a cure for cancer - its called right and proper living. Eating a good wholesome diet, getting good exercise, living away from too much pollution/stress etc.

Its not that drugs aren't tested enough. Its that the whole system is skewed towards the profit-seeking drugs cartels. I don't trust my health to big business - be it the food industry or the drugs industry.

I believe that synthetic chemicals are inherently unsafe. Every year hundereds of new synthetic chemicals are released into the envioronment with little or no knowledge of their long-term safety for human beings. There is simply no economically viable way to test them.

I trust big pharma to behave rationally - i.e. to maximize profits, in the same way that say the tobacco industry have. Don't forget not long ago cigarettes were sold as a health product. A profit maximising firm looks after its shareholders interests first and foremost.

JV.
