Re: Now who is knocking alternatives?

> You say "As for "homeopathy" it is a pure scam." I beg to differ.

You spout-off about scientific studies, yet where is the scientific studies for homeopathy? They don't exist - at least not repeatable ones, because if there was one it would have claimed the $1 million prize offered by the James Randi Foundation. Homeopathy is a scam based on non existant pseudoscience. It contradicts the very scientific edifice.

>Rubbish, every single drug you are prescribed will come with a leaflet in the box giving details of possible adverse effects.

You have no idea how the pharmacological industry works. Call yourself an investigative reporter? Publications and results are heavily vetted so that only positive results get through. Negative results, and even worse side-effects are carefully hidden. Doctors are given only limited information on drug interactions and side-effects. Firstly the number of possible interactions is enormous - just think of the number of drugs and square that number. Thats not even taking into account interactions with natural substances. Secondly there is the fact that drug companies are extremely conservative when it comes to admitting flaws in their products. Remember thalidomide? Or how about the many classes of antidepressents which cause serious psychological side-effects including suicide? It takes years (decades) after many hundereds/thousands have suffered before liability is admitted.

Who do you think pays for all the research?"
>Dont follow your reasoning? Are you saying there is no need for research into alternatives. If so you are sadly wrong because, as Ev said, reputable alternatives have undergone rigorous scientific checks.

I'm sorry you can't understand my simple logic. The drug companies pay for research, which is why drugs have so many publications to back them up (and free/cheap/natural alternatives don't). So why would the guys paying the researchers pay for negative publicity?? There is no impartiality in pharmacological science.

> Yet you appear to have total faith in those whose websites are bigger than their premises and have zero research facilities, who flog you a bottle at an inflated price.

Who or What are you talking about? Which websites?

JV.
