What is it like to live in a halfway house?

As a resident of a sober living house in Tennesse, I am qualified to answer this question.
Unlike most misconceptions related to a sober house, it is not a place for junkies and addicts. When enrolling in a sober living house, there are several precautions taken to allow only dedicated members.
The residents live in a less restrictive environment where they are free to attend school, go to work, and enjoy social functions while living there. The only catch is you need to participate in 12 step meetings, counseling sessions, and you need to contribute towards keeping the home environment clean.
You also need to stick to certain rules such as:
- Participate in a random drug test
- No violence among residents
- No Stealing
- Follow curfew guidelines
- Attend house meetings

All in all, it may not seem like a picnic but living in a halfway house is not as bad as it seems. All you need to have is resilience and self-control.
