so did a guy in a red suit appear before you? ive never seen satan or the devil in a form other than humans. like you, for example. but jesus was tempted in every way as we are. how can that be? who was the satan offering jesus the world? it was the jews, of course. they already had their sights on rome. they thought jesus was the great conqueror, like constantine became. jesus went out in the wilderness and meditated on the conversations he had with the scribes and pharisees and what they had said. he knew he was capable of becoming a leader. they did too, and herod also. he threatened them all. and he was tempted to rule them all and take over the world. and those thoughts of food and thoughts grandeur he overcame. all that stuff took place internally. im sure he went to a high place to look out and see the great expanse of land and sea. but no snake. no horned man with a tail. just tempted like we are, both great and small.
