I did talk with me doctor after my hospital visit and she told me that I made the right choice in selecting the the injection over pills since it will bypass my GI tract. Apparently the the injection is considered the lesser of two evils. Also my physician brought up a good point in that my lack of sleep would have compromised my already weak immune system (late stage Lyme Disease) and raised cortisol. She also noted that the Lyme bacteria had likely been 'starved' of the Sugar and protein it normally feeds off of, hopefully making the steroid a lot less detrimental then it typically is for a LD sufferer. She told me to proceed with the fast if I have the desire to do (and I do) since all my other vitals are stable. I appreciate your response. Thank you!
