Re: Is it not wonderful... quote
Don't get me wrong chuck. I'm no apologist for Zionists, despite trapper's delusions about my own sympathies, or possibly even ancestry. Given a straight choice between Jews and dispossessed, oppressed, harangued and even massacred Palestinians (remember Sabra and Shatila?), my sympathies are always with the latter, hands down and no contest. I'm not blind to the atrocities committed by Zionists, but that doesn't mean that I feel any need or warrant to deny the atrocities committed against them either.
If I was a small country surrounded on all fronts by enemies who are hell-bent on my destruction, I might well behave as Israel does towards its neighbours. That's not to condone, but to try to understand the psyche that informs their instinct for self-preservation. Blood has been shed by both sides, on both sides, and unless they all abandon 'an eye for an eye' and learn to live together, we'll simply end up with a world full of blind ppl, as Gandhi once famously warned.
Trapper is pathologically incapable of considering any evidence that challenges his anti-Semitic worldview, but he will readily swallow fraudulent exercises in scatology like The Protocols... hook, line & sinker, because it bolsters his already established prejudices. He can huff & puff all he likes, but the contemporaneous evidence collected by Eisenhower and his cohorts is near as dammit irrefutable.
If it's good enough for some of the best jurists of the mid 20thC, it's sure as hell good enough for lil ol me.
