Re: The 5 Points of FINALISM
Yeah, unplanned break to sort out some biz., so killing 2 birds so to speak by combining with some R&R. Also the reason why my blogging is sporadic.
I had a feeling that might be your beef w. Zens. I recall while I was reading that section thinking.... hmm..... sounds a bit too jehovah witnessy for my liking, and quite surprising coming from 'our stable'. So yeah, on that point I'd say I'm with Hengstenberg and Alexander. Together, they make for a formidable pair, and when they agree you know you're in for a hard time if the aim is to unseat their interpretation. If you're interested, Alexander's treatment is here, but worth a read anyway:

So personally, I'm not inclined to break out in a cold sweat just coz one Finalist disagrees w. the majority view on such a minor point. Our differences are small fry compared to the fault lines that run thru the various schools of chiliasm, and I still rate Zens one of the best writers in the field, minor differences notwithstanding.
So, ya got 'left behind' in Walmart did ya? Sounds like a fate worse than death, and serves ya right for upsetting my good friends refreshed & rainy. Oh yeah.... just remembered - I upsetted them too, diddle I? Anyroad, did you know that particular doctrine made its 1st appearance in a charismatic meeting in 1830? A young Glaswegian lady by the name of Margaret MacDonald received it as a 'revelation' - allegedly. So now you know how Christian doctrine is formulated, if you were ever in any doubt.
