Seems to me that 'literalism' is paid lip service only when it suits. When prose is as plain as the fly on your nose (I'm a poet and I know it), all commonsense interpretations fly out the window if they threaten a cherished belief.
BTW, have ya read Zens yet? And if not, why not? OK, just kiddin' about the hustling. But I hafta say, I was glad to see he made many excellent points that I've reiterated time & again in these threads.
