The Israeli settlement of Nof Zion has struggled historically, as it was built in the middle of a Palestinian neighborhood in occupied East Jerssalem. Officials are looking to give out building permits to greatly expand the settlement, making it the largest built within a Palestinian neighborhood.
Discussion is set to begin Sunday on the new permits. If approved, this would bringing the settlement to in excess of 200 families. The expansion will cut even deeper into the existing neighborhood, which is sure to fuel anger about the move.
The discussion and presumptive approval will take place as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is out of the country, visiting Latin America before capping off a 10-day trip at the UN General Assembly in New York.
The goal of the Israeli government, from its inception, has never been peace, but physical expansion, and by any means necessary.
With the approval of this settlement, they will be cutting more territory from the Palestinians in East Jerusalem, for Jewish-only settlers.
The adding insult to injury against the Palestinians has been a tried-and-true Israeli gambit for all of its existence.
And unfortunately, with President Trump in the White House, its Prime Minister, Benyamin Netanyahu, feels that he can get away (nearly literally) with murder against the Palestinians, including stealing their land in East Jerusalem.
And if you think my claims about Israel's wanting middle-eastern territory is false, please take a look at the following map of Erez Israel, which is the physical extension of Israel into other countries, claimed by the Biblical kingdom of Israel, and so coveted by its Zionists:
See how many bits and pieces of other existing sovereign countries Israel would have to nibble off to reach its goal here?!?
And, more importantly, have the leadership in Egypt; Syria; Iraq; Lebanon; and Saudi Arabia "received the memo" that this is, ultimately, Israel's design intent, here?!?
