Reliable tests to detect systemic candida albicans?
What test(s) should I ask my doctor for to PROVE that I have systemic candida?
I have been suffering/dealing with systemic candida for at least the last 20 years (since my early 20's) after being on
Antibiotics for a couple of years straight. I was also on prednisone during my entire pregnancy 2 years ago which has just made it so much worse. I've have been on Nystatin 2 times in the last 5 years and it helped, along with diet, to knock some candida out and then help me to keep symptoms under control with supplements. I am ALWAYS changing up my candida supplements (but am always on them!).
My 'new' doctor won't prescribe Nystatin because he doesn't believe that I have a candida issue. I know my body. He ran a urine culture through Quest and of course came back negative. My symptoms are not in my bladder or 'down there'. They are foggy thinking, fatigue, and a scalp problems. It is systemic. If I eat sugar, even a tiny amount, my head starts to itch in minutes! Then I take Threelac and it immediately stops. Until I have
Sugar again. This is no way to live!
I see actual candida (cotton balls) in the toilet after #2 and I have a raw scalp for days if I eat ANY sugar. I don't drink anything but black coffee and water and have a clean diet, so my body cannot handle
Sugar well.
