For the avoidance of doubt, I did not suggest that you 'follow' a film in order to inform your beliefs. Hollywood is quite possibly the last place on Earth I would look to for Christian teaching, inspiration, or enlightenment.
I offered it merely to illustrate a concept that most people who see it, including critics, simply don't 'get'. The film itself has nothing directly to say either about the BIble or its central theme. If anything, it portrays its subject-matter with a distinctly Islamic flavour, with a little mysticism thrown in for good measure.
Again, it's interesting to note that we share the messianic motif with Islam, though of course our messiah is very different from the twelfth mahdi that Muslims still await. So much so that some misguided Christians writers identify him as the antichrist of the Apocalypse.
