So you are trying to be like Paul and not mention the name of Jesus too often and speak figuratively? Why?
As far as being compatible with God's spirit, if we are not living in the flesh, we should be more driven by the Spirit. But that is the Spirit's doing, not ours. Our job is to be open to letting the Spirit lead us, so the flesh will not.
If you wish to be PHILOSOPHICAL about spiritualism then that is your right to do. I'm just glad to hear that you know Jesus as our Lord, Savior, King and God. I wish that understanding would have been more apparent earlier on...for I don't perceive philosophical spiritualism in my spirit.
In my way of understanding, this purification of conscience is when we know in our spirit that we are His children because we believe in Jesus and what He did for us. We know because the Spirit tells us in the bible and in our hearts.
Colossians 3:1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.
