I agree with you that genuine freedom must include the freedom to choose to be a slave if you are averse to and/or incapable of assuming the kind of responsibility that is required to maintain freedom. Masters derive their power from slaves who grant them permission to dominate. If/when permission is revoked, power is lost. Who is ultimately in control? The slave. Those who take pride in making do with less are paying a great tribute of appreciation to their masters. Both master and slave are very proud of how much endurance can be evoked without breaking the bond of relationship.
