Re: Anger Release When Fasting

Sorry to hear you've had a rough time. The reason for your anger is probably related to neurotransmitters in the brain. A drop in serotonin and dopamine, as well as less oxygen to the brain (headaches). Also toxins will build up in the body and brain if you run out of the nutrients needed to clear them. This will lead to headaches and nausea.

All of your symptoms are likely related to not enough vitamins. The previous fasting you did, depending on how recent, may have left you low in some vitamins. Then this fast has quickly put you in the danger zone of under-nutrition.

Several vitamins are water soluble and are not stored in the body in large amounts so that we can quickly become depleted if we do not get them in our food.

B-vitamins are are required to make neurotransmitters and to deliver oxygen to every organ, including the brain. Every process in the body relies on these b-vitamins. For your next fast, you might consider taking in a bone broth daily, and a b-vitamin complex, plus the other water soluble nutrients like vitamin C, zinc and magnesium. This will help you detox more effectively, since we need these vitamins to keep the processes going that allow for detoxing to happen.

You mentioned that you've previously done several juice fasts. Juice is high in simple sugars and has no thiamine - the vitamin required to metabolize sugar. This will lead to thiamine depletion in a matter of days. Low thiamine will definitely make you feel angry. It can also cause a rapid pulse, heart arrhythmias, stomach pain, joint pain, muscle pain, nerve pain, anemia and more. Oxidative damage occurs in muscles, organs, and the brain.

Try focusing on eating low Sugar for a while and supplementing to rebuild your stores. Avoid alcohol, tea and coffee, and raw fish, which all contain anti-thiamine compounds.
