I just listened to a podcast by TWIP (This week in parasitism) which talked about a specific roundworm that can inhabit the eye. As I have learned over the years, that there are no hard and fast rules meaning that anything is possible.

Hair falling out and other symptoms are likely due to nutritional deficits which are created by the immune reaction which are generally quite strong. These strong reactions leave the body needing more nutrients, B vitamins come to mind.
