Thank you for that. Perhaps I'm adding too much of my own thoughts to the scripture.

I based my understanding on mainly this one verse.

"Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God." John 20:17

It just didn't make sense that he would tell her to go tell the breathren to tell them that message and later that day, Jesus Himself went and visited them unless He went somewhere more important first. He says I have not ascended and yet tells her to go tell the others that "I ascend".

You would think He would just go visit them right that second instead of sending her. What other thing could be more important than telling your closest friends yourself that you are alive and celebrating with them?

That's the reason I felt like He went to heaven. He had something important He had to take care of.
