Re: Do people who have never heard the gospel go to hell?

"The only disagreement I see is that you do not believe that our spirits and souls go immediately to God when we die. I guess you believe in soul sleep. If not, where do you believe our spirits and souls go when we die? The scripture you quoted makes perfect sense to me with my beliefs. Our spirits and souls cannot die in the way our natural minds think of death. This is why some people think they are sleeping."

I just don't believe we will be fellowshipping with Christ and the other saints who have already died, and doing whatever else, without a body, and I don't believe the scriptures say that either. I believe we are asleep in Christ until the resurrection. I do believe our spirits and souls are with God after we die.
I just don't believe we are in a conscious state without a body, but that once again, we are asleep in Christ.

The resurrection is our hope. Why would Paul make such a huge deal about the resurrection in this passage down below and others if when we died, we went directly to heaven before we are resurrected? Why is he scolding some for not believing that the dead are resurrected? If we are already in heaven, enjoying all the bliss of heaven before we are resurrected, then why is the resurrection so important? Are we just going to get tired of being bodiless in heaven or what?

1 Corinthians 15:12
12Now if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. 14And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain. 15We are even found to be misrepresenting God, because we testified about God that he raised Christ, whom he did not raise if it is true that the dead are not raised. 16For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. 17And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. 18Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied.
