Health authorities are encouraging people to check their vaccination records as a mumps outbreak grows in Metro Vancouver and Howe Sound.

A total of 41 cases have now been reported in Vancouver, North Vancouver, Whistler and Squamish.

The viral illness causes fever and swelling of the salivary glands, and can lead to complications in adult patients, including deafness and meningitis. Tweet
