Re: Mercury affecting thyroid?

== reply below

"...DMSA strips minerals from our bodies."

== Andy C indicates that the doses he recommends do not cause significant loss of essential minerals--unlike EDTA. The study below did not indicate any major problems either. I bet they were not using Cutler's low doses.

== Results of DMSA Treatment Study, James Adams,et al
http://www.scribd.com/doc/15120628/Results-of-DMSA-Treatment-Study
Conclusions - benefits
ēDMSA greatly increases excretion of lead, and some increase in excretion of tin, mercury, thallium.
ē1 round of DMSA dramatically normalized glutathione levels for at least 1-2 months, and helped normalize platelet levels (marker of inflammation) for at least 4 months
ēSeverity of Autism Scale. Significant improvement in both groups
Conclusions - safety
ēDMSA increases excretion of potassium and
chromium; suggests need for more vegetables/fruit and modest chromium supplementation during chelation
ēDMSA had little effect on other essential minerals
ēDMSA had no adverse effect on liver enzymes, kidney function, or complete blood count (CBC)
ēDMSA possibly raised triglycerides Ė concern to watch for
ēCheck cysteine levels, since 90% of DMSA is excreted bound to 1-2 cysteine

== When on round take a little extra chromium and include some extra "lite salt". That contains potassium as well as sodium

"...What do you think is causing the rapid aging and dry skin?

== My skin is better in the Winter for the past couple of years after a long history of chapped, even bleeding hands.

== A close female friend who is around 50 definitely looks younger than her age after her years of detox. Her skin looks younger than her age.

== I think this is due to the gentle, careful process of removing heavy metals. HMs oxidize--damage--our beneficial fats. We need to take antioxidants such a vitamin C and E while doing detox for protection. Also vitamin C is needed for production of collagen in skin, joints, etc.

"Maybe the chelation is bein too hard on your thyroid and you've become hypothyroid? I've been going trough the same thing for the past year. My hands are full of lines and the area under my eye has lost so much elasticity. Skin health has been decreasing consistently no matter what I do. And skin care products won't help at all.

== Along with vitamin C, I think the mineral silica is involved in production of collagen. I imagine there are other components.
